More from Andrew

Endow – Hey, I think we do have the pain killers figured out. They were giving me two long lasting 12 hour doses of morphine and I also had the option of every four hours to monitor where I was at and could take if I wanted. The 12 hour ones during the day were knocking the crap out of me so I refuse the morning 12 hour one and take the four hour ones as needed and just take the big boy at night to sleep well. And yes, I will be dreaming about Kalli tonight. She is the best thing that has happened in this whole thing.

Ashley and Anthony – Happy Honeymoon in Hawaii. I am sure it is so beautiful there; I have never heard anything but great things. Kalli and I want to go so bad and as soon as we can find some cheap tickets we probably will. So, take notes and let us know where the best place to be is. Bring pictures when you visit! PS: I have your pictures from the photo booth at the wedding, they have been fun to look at but I really want you guys to have those back for your photo collection as you build your little Wilhelms family. Anthony – make sure you try surfing while you are there – some of the best in the world. But, do not, I repeat DO NOT go without a rash guard. I made that mistake and almost lost my nipples.

Haley – I dream about your guacamole every night. The food here is not very good, so feel free when you come down to visit to make another batch of that stuff! Love your support!

Sevag – it’s not the same without being able to talk to you randomly throughout the day. Thank you so much for the support you and your branch have given me. I can’t wait to get fully recovered and back out working with you guys. Love you man, have a good one.

Silly Coonen – I am not going to need a wheelchair. But I do have some duct tape for you.

Horan – have fun in Bonnaroo – wish I could be there with you. When you have a chance, make sure you find yourself in Chicago. For your mom – the address is 345 E Superior St. Chicago, IL 60611, my room number is 730-1.

  1. Hey Andrew!

It's great to hear that you are doing so well! I think this blog has become more (okay, maybe equally) as addicted as facebook.. I check it about a million times a day! It's nice to be able to keep track of how you're doing, and also to read all the other comments.. all the stories I have read about you so far I can definitely imagining happening! I have the only picture I managed to find from Beach Harbor sitting on my desk, so I've definitely been thinking about you and praying for you! And what's even more.. I had a SoCo and Coke last night in honor of you!

  2. Hey Hip,
I loved reading all your responses to your friends' posts. I am honored that you included one for me. (Maybe because one of my posts was an entire page?!) Sorry about that. It didn't look that long in the e-mail that I cut and pasted it from. (honest!) If you remember at the wedding I admitted I was known for my brevity so I guess you had fair warning!
It's 3:35 am and I was on my way to bed and could not call it a night until I checked your blog to see how your day was. I am clueless as to everything you all need to do to regain your strength and mobility but your sister's entrys give me a little insight. One small step at a time. I am utterly amazed at your attitude and your determination. You have no idea what an inspiration you are to alot of us!
We are moving some of kelly's things down to her apartment in Chicago this Sunday. (She doesn't start her job for another week.) We are trying to avoid the Chicago traffic by going late afternoon/evening on Sunday but if we can pull off a visit we will stop in to see you. unless you are swamped with company. We will call in advance in case you are getting your beauty sleep...or you are swamped with other company.
Barb Wilhelms e-mailed me the cutest picture of you and Kalli from the wedding. I wanted to send it to you but the dirty bugger beat me to it.
    Much love and continued prayers.

  3. Hi Andrew! I'm glad to see how well things are going for you. You're in my prayers daily! Remember how I told you my friend was in Medjugorje this week and I asked her to pray for you? I got an e-mail from her. I think it's encouraging. Here it is... "Will keep all of the petitions in our hearts and prayers and present them to the Blessed Mother. We were in her presence here in Medjugorje this evening at an apparition and placed the prayer petitions in the basket beforehand - she particularly prayed over the sick and interceded on our behalf." I e-mailed a copy of the picture of you and your parents from St. E's to both your mom and dad, hopefully they got it. Take care! Amanda L.

  4. Hey Hippert!

Sounds like you've been crazy busy at rehab this week! I'm going to give Kalli a call and see if I can come downtown to see you this weekend sometime. My current work schedule makes it almost impossible to see you during the week. I'll get there soon, though.

So getting your first shower is great and all, but does this mean no more sponge baths from the nurses?? Bummer man.

Hang in there Hippert, and keep doing what your doing - it's definitely working! Oh, and let me know if there's anything I can bring you. See you soon!

    Hugs & Kisses,
    Maeghan

    Hi!!
    I love this comment:
Every time I work on something, or do any sort of physical activity all my nerves in my arms and legs just start twitching and tingling. It feels so good.
That's great!!! I can't believe how quickly you're progressing with therapy.
And bytheway- I make some SUPER good guac as well. I'll have to get some to you and have a gauc-off with Haley's ;)
And HI TO KALLI! So glad she's able to be in Chicago w/ you as well as your mom. That's awesome.
See you soon - late June or July I'm planning!

  6. morning hip,

so do all those posts count as therapy for you? at the very least it should count for extra credit beacuse i know i dont have the fine motor skills to type on one of those damn blackberrys. i know i sound like an aging baby boomer instead of a gen xer but those buttons are too damn small for my fat fingers, so if you got all that up off your blackberry i tip my cap to you my friend. anyways i will be leaving later today for vegas and won't be back til saturday so the posts might slow down a bit, i'm sure you know how tough it is to type wasted at a titty bar. oh yeah just so you know we haven't had a nice day here since i got back. june gloom sucks a fat one, i can't believe i want wisconsin weather right now. keep workin your ass off bud, i expect to be impressed when i come visit you :-)

  7. Hippert -

Do you feel like a celebrity yet? I think you have become one...or were you already one!

I look forward to checking the blog each day to see how you're doing. Mark is keeping us updated as well. I am so impressed with all the hard work you've been doing! I am praying for you every day. Keep smiling!

  8. Andrew - you'll get a kick out of this one! My mom calls me last night and goes "so you're following Andrew's blog, right? are you going to tell me what REALLY happened at that New Year's Eve party?!" So over 10 years later.... we got busted!! Although Connie did say "I find it much more hilarious now than I would have 10 years ago...and let this be a lesson... parents ALWAYS find out!" But the odds of my dad pulling one of the 4 non-alcoholic Tings will still always make me laugh. Despite the puke in the hallway and the confetti that was ingrained in the carpet for, I swear, a year, it was a damn good party! Great to hear you're doing so awesome! St. B's style - all the way! --Rachel

  9. Hippert -

You bet, I'll be down on Saturday. It might look a little odd if we're both hanging out with no pants on, but if that's what you feel like doing, I'm all game. You think I could borrow a wheel chair? Maybe we'll get some races going with some of your new buddies?

I know you're doing a kick ass job, and keep it up.

I will now be lame and post a long poem, but it's one I really like.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

  10. Andrew-
I'm awed by your friends and family, just as much as I'm awed by you. Mark Lee, I didn't know you had it in you. My first memory of you, Andrew, was a cute little kid with a pageboy haircut. You would have been a very pretty little girl.

  11. Hey Hippert!
Looks like things are going really well for you already in the Chi! Keep up the great work...your strength and determination are amazing! Know that thoughts and prayers are sent your way daily from Phoenix. Oh ya, while you and your entourage are in Chicago, you'll have to check out Geno's pizza (I think there's an east and a west location)--best Chicago-style pizza I've EVER had!

  13. I just read the article in the Compass. By the way the picture is great...especially seeing that Hippert smile on your face. Don't know how deep you had to dig to find that (knowing you, probably not far at all) but it sure was awesome to see. All those prayers from soooo many people. I think God is being inundated with them. Not letting up though. There are miracles still waiting to happen...
    As always love and prayers,
    -Tari
I hope you put a sign on your door when Mark Lee visits and it is a "Pants-Free" zone.
If we stop by on Sunday we want to know what we're walking into....

  14. The whole you and Mark - pantsless - thing creeps me out a little bit... but I suppose you get to do whatever you want for awhile now. (like free shit and whatever)- that's pretty cool. Sometime I want to take you around to Six Flags so we can do some major line jumping. I think we should both take full advantage :) I'm assuming that it would be smart to wait until your neck is a lot less broken, so just give me the word... lol. Well buddy, I'm sitting in Manitowoc feeling a lot more out of the loop (since I'm no longer writing the blog) and I am going to jump in the car next week and come see you... I'll be there Friday that 19th. Just let me know what I can bring you, and I'll make it happen. I love you so much little brother and am awed by your strength. I'd write more, but Grey just ripped off her diaper and took off. I better go before she takes another dump in the cabin.

    LOVE YOU!
    Your Sister Laura

  15. Hippert,
So your best therapist is single... and Mark is comming this weekend... Are you good enough in that chair to wheel yourself out of the room if they happen to hit it off? Otherwise you'll just have to pretend your sleeping.... yeah, Ok, this may not be appropriate for the blog posts... so... yeah. Anyway, I'm slowly putting togeather ideas for another care package. Let me know if there is anything you are lacking and i'll try to make it work. Keep kickin' ass!

  16. Hippert,

Anyone else around there we should invite to our 'pants' party? Sounds like its going to be a hoot.

I'm sure that Beth Mueller was referring to you being a cute little girl. I actually thought that too...

  18. Hip,

It is good to see that you are working harder in therapy than you do at Sheffield. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and can't wait to see you during my next trip to Chi town. I check this blog daily so I am happy to see that there seems to be progress each time I get on the blog. Stay strong!!!

  19. Andy,

I am so very impressed with you. It sounds like you are making a lot of progress. I love checking the blog to find out the latest updates. You continue to amaze me.

I was really hoping to come in and visit you earlier this week, but I know you were just getting settled, and I had tons to do before leaving for Canada on Wednesday morning. I promise I will visit ASAP after getting back (the end of next week).

Oh, and you can add Trail, British Columbia, Canada as one of the places people are praying for you ;) ...it's pretty small, so hopefully it's on the map!

Have fun dreaming of Kalli tonight. She is an incredible girl.

I will see you soon. Keep up the hard work!

    XO,

    Anjali
