Andrew's Rehabilitation

We let everyone know that Andrew is still in the ICU- which does mean that he is still only having immediate family in for visitation, we will let you all know when he may get into a room and can see all of his friends. Also, the rehab center is still undetermined as Andrew, the Family, and the doctors are still looking into the best location. Craig Hospital in Denver sounds like a great place, as well as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago; it would be nice to have him near by, but we just want the best center.

  1. Andrew,

This is not the type of news I wanted to hear after so many years of not seeing or hearing from you... I just want you to know that you are in mine and all of my family's prayers. You were always a tough little sh** in middle school and grade school so I know you will be able to handle this with no problem. Stay strong and be positive!

  5. Hey Hippert,

I know it's been a while, but I'm hoping and praying for your complete recovery. And if I had any say in it, sounds like Craig Hospital would be the best place for rehab...they have the name right anyway!

    All the best,

    Hi Andrew -
My parents called us on Sunday to let us know the devastating news. We are all so very sorry to hear about your accident, but it doesn't surprise me that you are fighting this the entire way! We have started a prayer chain for you down here in Jacksonville == my kids and their friends included. I shared with them the miracle that you are talking, writing and have no brain damage! And we are here to tell you that we believe in miracles AND the power of prayer. Please stay strong and believe. You have a very rough road ahead of you, but you've already proven in 48 short hours how one's will, determination, faith and courage can get you through anything. We're sending lots of hugs to you, your parents and your brothers and sisters.
    Love,
Colleen, Jack, Mikaela and Jack III Jones

PS - I can't wait to read the blog when you wiggle your toes for the first time! Hang in there and keep fighting.

  8. Hippert,

I'm working from home, like endow and find myself checking this every hour. I'm waiting for you to get your ass out of that bed and walk. Remember pulling an all nighter senior year, camping out in your backyard? You gave me my first colt 45 and it knocked me on my ass. Stay positive and thanks to everyone for keeping this site updated. Looking foward to visiting.

  10. Hippert, when I heard about what happened it was like a kick in the gut. I am choked up right now just writing this. It warms my heart to see that you have such a strong spirit. I say a pray every morning right before I hit the sales floor. You will be in that prayer every morning until we can get that round of golf in that we have been talking about. You obviously have a great family, which is such a blessing. I wish all of you the best during recovery. If there is anything you need or anything I can do, don't hesitate to hit me up

I heard from a good friend about another rehab place. She heard great things about Frazier Rehab Institute in Lousiville KY, & that they are doing amazing things with spinal cord patients there.

  26. Hey Hip it's Endow again,

just wanted to let you know my productivity while working is going way down. you're gonna have to start wiggling those toes sooon so i don't have to check the blog every 10 minutes. if i keep this up i'm gonna have to find a new job :-) Seriously though i know you can do it man, keep fighting. I was telling my dad how you were the only person i met just once and agreed to live with shortly thereafter. that's saying somethin cause you know i've had 20+ roomates in my life. everyone else took at least 3 or more parties to get to know before i could live with them. ;-)

  29. Hi Andrew,

I've got a complete spinal cord injury at the C-4-5 level. So I can definitely identify with what you're going through. It's tough stuff. I had a four-month stint in the hospital, and I've been living with SCI for seven years post-accident now. It was diving injury into a sand bar on a shallow lake. Before that, I was an active, energetic husband, father and firefighter, never able to sit still. Well, things have changed, but let me tell you something. Have faith! You're not alone. Don't let this thing tear you apart on the inside. God can do wonders in the midst of your worst pain and frustration. I'd love to meet you sometime; we'll have to plan a rendezvous at some point, cruise around and connect. I'll be keeping tabs. You're in my prayers.
