WIGGLING TOES!!!

JULY 21st, 8:15pm.

After explaining to the blog how wonderful everyone was to me at the golfing event the love and support just now blessed me with the most amazing thing ever, a true full on toe wiggling, foot moving amazing sweet action of my fat feet!! Kalli and I were sitting here in bed and had just finished writing today's blog when I got this feeling, like my feet might move. Now, prior to this all I had ever gotten was my middle toe on my left foot to just barely at all wiggle the smallest amount. Whereas, just now, all of my toes on my left foot and about half on my right foot were able to do a full-on wiggle. It made me want to scream from the highest mountain "I'm gonna walk!" Kalli recorded it on her camera and as soon as we can we will try to add it to the blog.

Anabelle, Jack and Ali all put their hands in the air and all said at the same time yaaahoooo!!!!! God bless you Andrew and Kalli on all your hard work. Keep it up. You deserve to be screamming from the highest mountain right now. Love lots: Sarah

  11. Andy-

I have been following your blog since I heard about your accident and think its unbelievable how much progress you have made and more importantly how much you have continued to stay strong and positive throughout your journey to recovery. You are an inspiration to me and so many others.

Glad to hear you had a great time at your golf outing and that it was a success. There is no greater feeling in the world than knowing how much your family and friends care about you and will support you no matter what. God works wonders.

I know I haven't talked to you in a long time but know Im thinking about you and praying for a quick and successful recovery.

    Take Care..

  22. Hippert--

Like i said...everything definitely happens for a reason, and this entire experience has given you a whole new appreciation for life that many of us will never experience. It sounds like you had an amazing day on Monday, i really wish I could have been there (stupid work). But I look forward to seeing you and Kalli once you move in with Mark :)

BTW, I almost shit my pants last night when I got a text from Mark saying you wiggled your toes. KICK ASS!!!

  24. Just goes to show Hip how positive experiences and feeling the support from family and friends can have tangible physical effects in any type of healing situation. I doubt the wiggles happening just a day after the outing is a coincidence. All that means is we have to do another get together soon and do them often. Good to see you buddy, when you are all settled in at the new spot I will come visit.

  25. Dude-- I am so pumped for you! Amee said your dad called and was screaming and almost jumped through the phone when he shared the news. I had just seen him earlier in the evening and we were praying for that very thing.

God is indeed awesome, and it was truly a blessing to spend the day with you and all your other loved ones on Monday. Can't wait to see you when you move in, and go from wiggle-a-thon to walk-a-thon to marathon! We are keeping up the prayers and thanking God ahead of time.

  26. yo hip,

thanks for the jingle last night man. i was pretty jacked when my flight landed and i turned on my phone and there was mark lee's text saying you wiggled your toes! then you call an hour later with even better news!!! both those legs will be kickin ass left and right in no time, i can see it coming. i must admit i was pretty exhausted after the last few days but i couldn't fall asleep til after 1 last night i was so amped up for you. at next year's golf outing i call dibs on being in your group. i'm more than confident you'll be walking and swinging a club by then man. the whole event turned out pretty damn sweet huh? you might be the most popular guy in all of northeast wisconsin, no wait i'm gonna have to say ALL of wisconsin. it was awesome being with everyone in that environment, the last time we were all together like that was st. e's ICU and i think we can all go a lifetime without visiting there again. well i've put off work for long enough, back to the grind. keep a brother informed on all your wiggling progress. i can't wait for the first steps on to a sail boat blog post. it'll happen soon man, real soon.....

  27. Andrew,

Where do I even begin? I am SOOOOO excited for you and proud of you, words can not even describe it. I had the greatest time on Monday, and I cannot even begin to imagine the love you felt, because I know what I was witnessing was an indescribable feeling, purely amazing. I am so pleased I was able to be a part of your day on Monday, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. To see everyone come together and feel the love and support was unlike anything I've ever experienced.

I am so glad you liked the playing cards, and seeing the expression on your face, really meant a lot to me and made everything worth it. I hope the chex mix was okay too, I must admit that was my first time making it..so any pointers for the future would be appreciated!

To top it all off I'm leaving Target last night and I get a text from Mark about you wiggling your toes. I was so moved and extatic that I had to get out of the drivers seat and have my brother drive...my hands were shaking, I had a huge smile plastered on my face and my eyes were welling up with tears(of joy of course). I then proceeded to call/text everyone I know that I have told your story to, whether they know you or not, and tell them of your amazing news! Everyone was so pleased.

Remember that quote I put in the card I made you when we first visted you, "Where there is great love, there are always miracles" well you have proven this over and over again and I am so grateful for it! By now I'm sure you've caught on that I love to help, so if there is anything you, Kalli, Mark or anyone in your family needs please please do not hesitate to ask. That goes for snacks and other goodies, you know I'm good for it. :D I have also told your sisters that I am more than willing to do all I can for your September event...so I am excited for that. I apologize that this is like a novel but I really can't contain my excitement.

I have come to realize, through the course of this whole journey, that you, Kalli and Mark, though the summers in SB were short, have really made an impact on me. You and all of your friends were all ALWAYS so welcoming and kind, and for that I am truly thankful. I am very blessed to know such remarkable people. I hope to come visit very soon, until then take care and keep up the amazing work! You're doing a great job!

Linz came rushing into the bathroom this morning while I was showering for work and said "Oh my God you have to read this" She looked liked she had seen a ghost. She was talking about a text from Clay that informed us of the good news. It sent shivers down my back. We were so excited for you we talked about it all morning until I had to leave. Keep coming at us with better and better news look forward to reading it everyday. Also glad to hear your gonna be back in A-town we will have to visit next time we come up.

  31. Hippert!

Ashley called me last night to fill me in on the amazing news! She had called me without leaving a message and then a couple minutes later texted me just saying "call me." I tried her once and she didn't answering. Fearing the worst (something like a death in the family) I waited just a couple minutes and then called her again. No answer. So now I'm super worried. A couple minutes later she called me back, barely able to contain herself as she told me you were wiggling your toes!! I went from thinking the worst, to barely able to believe the amazing news I was being told!! I am so so so happy for you! What an amazing morale booster right before you're ready to get home! Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to hear more good news!

    Lots of Love,
    Maeghan

  34. Hip,
I came home tonight and my wife told me I had to read the blog right away as we follow your blogs nightly. I am so happy to hear the news!!!!! I was telling the Sheffield team how much improvement you have had since I last saw you in Chicago with your hand grip and movemnt as they were asking about the golf tournament. You have really come a long way and it sounds like your hard work and faith are starting to pay off. It was great to see you Monday and excited for you for the movement you are experiencing in your legs and toes. Please keep us updated!
